Santabarbarabusinessnews.com is the media sponsor of the Nov. 8 to 10 Startup Weekend at workzones at 315 Paseo Nuevo. The South Coast business journal has covered many of the similar events during the past decade since the “Shark Tank-type” business pitch competition came to Santa Barbara.
Entrepreneurs, designers, engineers and others are encouraged to sign up for the 54-hour brainstorming and pitch-making marathon that brings together mentors and judges who help teams of idea makers form new enterprises in the face of a changing economy.
Anyone who signs up for the event this week will receive a free six-month ad on Santabarbarabusinessnews.com, valued at $700. Tickets for this year’s Santa Barbara Startup Weekend range in price from $25 to $99. Startup Weekend is designed to provide superior experiential education for technical and non-technical entrepreneurs who will work on business plan development and basic prototype creation.
Winning enterprises will be announced at a Sunday night of demonstrations and presentations.
The weekend at workzones includes: seven catered meals, coffee and snacks; all-you-can-drink Red Bull and Yerba Mate; sponsor swag and goodies; networking with fellow participants, successful entrepreneurs, mentors and company sponsors; free website .co domain; and a potential job because a lot of mentors and companies are hiring at the event.
