In advance of its Sept. 26 grand re-opening and ribbon-cutting to mark its recent expansion, Workzones will celebrate national worldwide wellness on Sept. 21.
The co-working club, 351 Paseo Nuevo, second floor, expanded to more than 14,000 square feet earlier this year after first opening in 2013 with less than 5,000 square feet of space.
After an 8 a.m. check-in, an 8:30 a.m. wellness session will begin with Samantha Eddy, a somatic movement specialist and registered yoga teacher based at Kineci Health & Movement Center in Santa Barbara.
Eddy specializes in teaching yoga for trauma and works with military veterans using movement as a healing modality, said Workzones community manager Kali Calloway.
Her classes combine playfulness with deep-body sensational awareness. She is a doctoral student with specialization in Somatic Studies at Pacifica Graduate Institute. She is acquiring her accredited yoga therapy certification. See www.blisseverydayyoga.com.
From 9:45 to 10:15 a.m., “Motivation with Hallie” will feature Hallie Avolio, who started Sassy Healthy Fit, sassyhealthy.fit, after she experienced a “melt-down in a dressing room with horrific lighting,” Calloway said.
Her a personal revolution was born in that room. “I’m tired of fighting off my demons!” she said and picked up her pieces and started taking care of herself mind, body and spirit.
Her two-year journey included much personal development reading, nutritional changes and a commitment to loving herself wholly and completely.
From 10:30 to 11 a.m., a Wellness Expo will feature vendors such as Lorna Jane, Pressed Juicery, Sage and others.
Workzones’ Sept. 26 grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony from 5 to 7 p.m. will feature San Marcos High School jazz music and other attractions, Calloway said.
