Workzones, the co-working space in Santa Barbara’s Paseo Nuevo mall, has officially opened Phase 1 of its expansion.
Once Phase 2 is complete, the facility will encompass a total of 14,300 square feet and 26 new offices with windows.
The expansion comes in the wake of last year’s departure of the Social Security Office on the second floor of 351 Paseo Nuevo. The Social Security Office moved to Figueroa Street.
However, Workzones is not done expanding, said manager Kali Calloway. A third phase will have an open area for a “built to suit,” she said.
While many Workzones members use the community areas of the facility, offices are available for monthly rent starting at $799.
Workzones Santa Barbara opened several years ago as a franchise by owners Pam Tanase, Kirk Peacock, Lisa Riolo, and Mike Franco. A grand opening is coming soon, Calloway said.
Like the other co-working space facilities on the South Coast, Workzones offers day passes, hourly meeting rooms, conference rooms and theater rentals. Other amenities include Wi-Fi, kitchen, beverages, printing and optional mailing and parking services.
Other South Coast co-working space facilities include Synergy at East Beach, the Sandbox in the Lagoon District and Impact Hub’s locations on State Street, in the Funk Zone and the Chapala Center.
These facilities often host corporate and community events.
