Workshops to Help Entrepreneurs Land a Spot on State Street

Two key events are planned this month to help attract short-term or “pop-up” businesses to the more than three dozen empty store fronts on State Street:
Entrepreneur Workshop, Sept. 12, 5:45 to 7 p.m.
Central Library, Faulkner Gallery, 40 E. Anapamu St.
Ready for a storefront presence? Attend this workshop to understand the basic requirements, identify space needs and learn how to negotiate a short-term agreement.
State Street Match, Sept. 19, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Central Library, Faulkner Gallery, 40 E. Anapamu St.
Entrepreneurs looking for storefront space to start a business will find this an event for to pitch a business plan to property owners and brokers who have space available downtown. Entrepreneurs may find the right space to match initial, short-term needs, whether for a weekend or a few months. Refreshments will be provided.
While it may be a temporary fix to a complex problem, pop-ups still provide tax revenue and make the county’s most visible commercial corridor look a bit better.
