Still-Open Chipotle at La Cumbre Plaza to Help Out Nonprofit

While one popular Mexican grill has departed State Street downtown, the other Santa Barbara location is selling its burritos and other fare while donating some proceeds to a good cause.

Buyers of Chipotle burritos on June 13 will help support a young, Santa Barbara resident and her work with Mama Hope in empowering social entrepreneurs in Tanzania. This fundraiser is not the Chipotle that abruptly closed at 723 State St. last month.

Global advocate fellow with the nonprofit group, Sarah Gemski said, “On Wednesday, Chipotle Mexican Grill in La Cumbre Plaza will donate 50 percent of its proceeds to Mama Hope, a California-based organization that promotes community engagement as a means of accelerating global developmental change.”

Customers need only mention the fundraiser to the cashier or show the foundation flier at the counter, she said. “Go ahead and order the heaping scoop of guacamole Wednesday,” Gemski said.

Hours are from 5 to 9 p.m. at Chipotle, 3851 State St., Suite A. For more information, email Gemski at [email protected]

“And if you’re not familiar with Mama Hope, head to details,” Gemski said.
