Sponsors Sought for Inaugural Yacht Race

Business sponsors are being sought for the inaugural Kopu Match Cup set for Sept. 19 and 20 off the Santa Barbara Coast. 

The event is a sustainable performance race between rival yacht clubs from along the California Coast. 

Kopu is a Santa Barbara-based company that imports sparkling water from New Zealand. 

The spectator friendly event will feature California fine food and wine purveyors and attract visitors from across the United States.  

The event is set to become the pinnacle sporting and social phenomenon on the American Riviera, organizers said. Spectators will be able to view the race in stadium seating along the shoreline. 

Presenting sponsorships are available for $500,000. Co-presenting sponsorships are $100,000; Starboard sponsorships are $50,000; Port sponsorships are $25,000; and Windward sponsorships are $10,000. 

A welcome dinner is planned for Sept. 18. The next day match racing heats will be staged followed by Santa Barbara wine and Food Showcase and evening Toast of Santa Barbara culinary event. 

Match racing finals are set for Sept. 20 followed by culinary events.
