A company started by two Santa Barbara City College students several years ago, is shipping out its first preorders for its patented mobile device charging system from its new headquarters run by a bold executive team.
FuelBox has been a while in truly launching, but its products are available this holiday season at myfuelbox.com
“FuelBox is also taking wholesale inquires and we are excited for the opportunity to empower other businesses,” said Chief Marketing Officer Dan Friedman. “FuelBox is the perfect gift for the holidays.”
The FuelBox “Ultimate Charging Solution” is a combination of a docking station and mobile battery pack providing more than 25 extra hours of power for cell phones, tablets and other devices at home and on the go. “This powerful duo is universally compatible and creates a convenience factor unlike any other charging product available today,” Friedman said, “Get yours now and simplify your life.”
Co-founders Robert Herr and Friedman came up with the idea for the device after a friend continuously lost his phone charger.
“We were fortunate to have received over $200,000 in orders before our products even landed,” Herr said. “Now that products are here, we are only fighting to keep up with demand.”
Herr said, “The challenging delays in getting our first product to market have been a blessing in disguise. We have gained a unique perspective to our industry that has given us a major advantage going into 2017 and we’re able to bring together a team of outstanding professionals to execute our plans”
FuelBox has been granted its second patent on its flagship product, “the Ultimate Charging Solution,” and has several new products in development. Industry experts saw what Herr and Friedman created and jumped at the opportunity.
Steve Shotwell joined FuelBox as president, chief executive officer and board member in September. He has more than 30 years of executive management experience in manufacturing and selling high-tech, high-volume products. He was recently president and CEO of SloanLED, which was acquired by Baird Capital.
“FuelBox has officially started its China office as we’ve hired a manufacturing engineer to manage our Chinese subcontractor and supplier relationships and to be the primary liaison back to corporate for all production matters,” Shotwell said. “The team there has extensive knowledge in electronics manufacturing, engineering, process and quality experience.”
The FuelBox team is growing, including other new executive members who serve the following roles: Vice President of Operations Thomas Trenschel; Chief Financial Officer Paul Daniel; and Chairman of the Board Jim Sloan.
The company opened its new headquarters at 114 E. Haley St., Suite K, in Santa Barbara. The 1,400-square-foot office will allow the team sufficient space to develop the next phase of its products and to make its sales and marketing activities as it launches production, Friedman said.
