Seymour Duncan CEO to Step Down after Four Decades

Cathy Duncan is stepping down as CEO of Seymour Duncan company after four decades.

Cathy Duncan, the CEO of Goleta-based Seymour Duncan, is stepping down from her leadership role after some four decades, but will remain on the company’s board of directors.

Cathy Duncan, 68, and her husband started the business out of a van in the 1960s when Seymour Duncan was rewiring guitar electronic pickups for the likes of rock legend Jimi Hendrix.

Rewiring guitar pickups gives the instrument a more unique sound.

Fast forward to present day, the company still works with artists such as Los Lobos, Steve Miller and others, in rewiring their gear, but also markets an array of guitar accessories.

A source who works at the company, but is not authorized to discuss the issue, said Duncan’s son is expected to be the new CEO.
