Santa Barbara, home of many educational campuses, is losing another school: Paul Mitchell the School, 525 Anacapa St., which has trained hundreds of hair stylists and beauticians over the past decade.
The closure of the school, housed in a 15,000-square-foot building, comes on the heels of this year’s earlier announcement about the closure of the Brooks School of Photography, which has trained thousands of photographers in Santa Barbara and Ventura.
Paul Mitchell still will operate its schools in Sherman Oaks, Pasadena, Costa Mesa, San Diego and Temecula.
“After careful consideration, the school’s ownership group has regretfully decided to close the school in Santa Barbara,” an announcement on the Paul Mitchell website said, which sounds like another rent hike,
“Our last day will be September 30, 2016,” the announcement said. “We are very distraught over how it affects the staff and the future professionals. …We have greatly enjoyed being a part of the Santa Barbara community and we wish all of our learning leaders and future professionals much success as we say good-bye to our campus.”
