Nominations are open for the eighth annual Spirit of Entrepreneurship Foundation Awards for women entrepreneurs in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties.
The nomination submission deadline is March 5. Nominations can be made at http://soefoundation.org/nominate/
Women entrepreneurs will be recognized for their success, innovation and contributions to the economy in 11 categories:
- agriculture and wineries;
- emerging business (one to five years old);
- green and social entrepreneurs;
- health and wellness;
- hospitality and tourism;
- media and communication;
- professional services;
- Science and technology;
- wholesale, manufacturing and Global Trade.

Nominees will be sent a link to an online application form. Three finalists in each category will be announced by the end of March. Finalists are selected by an independent panel of judges who live outside Santa Barbara and Ventura counties.
Proceeds from the SOE Awards benefit high school and college student entrepreneurs who win the SBCC Scheinfeld Center New Venture Challenge, which is a business-pitch competition.
Student winners will be the foundation’s guests and receive their prizes in seed money and scholarships at the Spirit of Entrepreneurship Awards banquet on May 4. The SOE Foundation has raised more than $75,000 to support student entrepreneurs.
