The Santa Barbara Summer Solstice Celebration is launching a new fundraising campaign to ensure the 44-year-old South Coast tradition has a thriving future.
“This tremendous public expression of our town’s highly individual creative spirit needs your help,” said Solstice Executive Director Robin Elander.

“The Thomas fire and recent mudslides have had significant ripple effects on the local Santa Barbara economy,” Elander said. “Our nonprofit organization is also struggling with the impact of these disasters.”
Even a small donation of $1 to $5 from many people will allow Summer Solstice Celebration to continue to be creative, she said.
“We need your support now more than ever,” Elander said. “Your help can make the 2018 Solstice Parade and Festival the memorable experience everyone looks forward to and allow us to begin making plans for 2019.”
Elander said the fundraising goal is $200,000.
With the theme of “Heroes,” this year’s Solstice three-day event starts on the evening of June 22. The 44th annual parade starts at noon on June 23 at State and Cota streets and moves north to Alameda Park.
