The Downtown Organization of Santa Barbara has named Dave Lombardi as interim director in the wake the resignation earlier this month of Maggie Campbell.
Coming to the South Coast from St. Louis, Mo., Campbell was hired as executive director of the Downtown Organization in 2014. She left as State Street saw a number businesses close and after disagreeing about a plan to put a 7-Eleven store at the corner of Ortega and State streets.
Lombardi owns Distinctive Framing ‘N’ Art store and gallery. He has served on the Downtown Santa Barbara Board of Directors since 2008. He was vice president in 2011 and was board president in 2012 and 2013.
He has lead the group’s Safety Committee and is the current chair of the Plaza Committee. In 2009, he received the George Gerth Volunteer of the Year award from Downtown Santa Barbara.
“I am proud and humble to step in and help this organization in any way possible.” Lombardi said in a prepared statement. “We have a great staff and I’m excited to work with them.”
Lombardi will run the organization during the executive director search process, now under way.
