Shoppers were already lined up to pour through shoes, sandals and accessories in the former Macy’s building at State and Ortega streets on the early evening of April 19 where Decker’s Brands had set up a pop-up market.
The enterprise comes the same day of the start of the “Experiment Weekend” on lower State Street.
The week-long Deckers pop-up is open from 5 to 10 p.m. April 19 for advance ticket holders and 10 a.m to 6 p.m. other days, except Easter Sunday on April 21.
Experiment Weekend activities are centered on the 300, 400 and 500 blocks of State Street where light shows, art works and music will be featured along with a variety of retail pop-ups selling their wares.
Experiment Weekend hours are from 8 to midnight April 19 and noon to 10 p.m. April 20.
Demolition work already has started around the former Macy’s building as part of the $20 million Paseo Nuevo renovation. 30-year-old outdoor mall. Some of the red brick pavers are being torn up around the old Macy’s store.
The renovation is expected to be completed sometime next year.
